Former Asst. Chief Reginald L. Hubbard, is campaigning for the position of SHERIFF, bringing with him a distinguished career marked by EXPERIENCE, HONESTY, and INTEGRITY. Throughout his more than 36 years of service, Hubbard has consistently demonstrated a commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. His leadership skills and ability to navigate complex challenges have earned him the respect and trust of both his peers and the public. Hubbard's campaign emphasizes transparency and accountability, promising to enhance community relations and foster a safer environment for all. With a proven track record of ethical leadership, he aims to lead with a steadfast dedication to justice and community service.

Know HIS Story

Hubbard is a retired Assistant Chief of the Shelby County Jail Division in Memphis- Shelby County. Throughout his distinguished tenure with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Hubbard rose through the ranks, starting as a Deputy Jailer and culminating as the Assistant Chief of the Jail Division. His comprehensive understanding of law enforcement operations and his ability to adapt and excel in various roles underscore his expertise and versatility.


In his role as Assistant Chief of the Jail Division, Hubbard excelled in coordinating the administration and care of justice-involved individuals, ensuring the facility operated smoothly and efficiently. His ability to provide accurate and timely information to senior officials, coupled with his meticulous oversight of inmate administration, highlights his administrative accomplishments and his commitment to upholding standards.


As a Lieutenant, Hubbard's supervisory skills were paramount. He adeptly managed assigned employees, developed work assignments, and ensured compliance with departmental procedures and state codes. His ability to assemble comprehensive reports and assist subordinates further underscores his leadership and mentorship qualities.


Hubbard's earlier roles, including Sergeant, Patrolman, and Deputy Jailer, equipped him with a robust foundation in both operational and supervisory capacities. His hands-on experience responding to emergency calls, generating reports, overseeing inmate movements, managing budgets and compliance, and maintaining security protocols speaks volumes about his dedication to public safety and his ability to handle complex situations effectively.


Beyond his professional achievements, Hubbard is deeply committed to community service. He volunteers with numerous organizations throughout Memphis-Shelby County, including the Metropolitan Interfaith Association (MIFA), LeMoyne-Owen College, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Notably, he provided professional assistance to Mississippi Gulf Coast law enforcement officers in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.


Hubbard's academic achievements are equally impressive. He graduated from Overton High School in 1982, holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Bethel University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Business Management from LeMoyne-Owen College, both with Magna Cum Laude honors.


Hubbard is a proud life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He has been an active member of the organization for 40 years. The fraternity prides itself on service to the community and achievement in every field of human endeavor.


The capstone of Hubbard's life is his lovely wife, April, and their two children.
